Yorkshire and Humber Clinical Skills and Simulation Quality Assurance  
 
Following on from Sheffield Hallam Universities Child Nursing group achieving quality assurance for clinical skills and simulation in July 2014, the healthcare training facility and the Technical Resources Team which supports the learning environment began the process to obtain recognition.

The quality assurance standard is really important to SHU, as it demonstrates that the simulation and clinical skills learning environment and the support that our Technical Services Team offers, is benchmarked against best practice and provides high quality experiential learning opportunities.
Clinical skills and simulation is a constantly evolving area of learning and practice, and the audit and review of systems and processes against the core and education standards required is an insightful and valuable means of ensuring that SHU provides quality and worthwhile education within a suitable learning environment.

Now that we have completed the process within the specialist teaching facility and the Technical Services staff that support it, I hope it helps reduce the administration for our other courses to obtain recognition.

I would especially like to thank Tracy Latham – our Regional Clinical Skills Advisor, who accepted the challenge to guide us through the Quality Assurance process.
