8th International Pediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshop conference in May

Yorkshire and Humber were well represented at the 8th International Pediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshop conference in May. Six presentations were given by our paediatric leadership fellows, regional clinical skills advisor and colleagues from Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The presentations included from 1 hr roundtable sessions, oral presentations and professorial poster walks. The innovative Yorkshire and Humber simulation work included;
  • Children and Young People’s Recognising and Assessing Medical Problems in Psychiatric Settings (RAMPPS) course which has been developed in response to an identified training gap for tier 4 Children and Adolescents Mental Health Service teams 
  • A&E in-situ simulation assessing protocol adherence and human factors for managing paediatric status epilepticus
  • Paediatric in-situ simulation – the public’s perspective
  • Competent coordinators- a simulation based training course for nurses 
  • “in flight” simulation for the aerial retrieval and transfer of sick neonates and children
